Jelle Stefan is an artist based in Sydney, Australia. His primary mediums are acrylic paint and 24-karat gold leaf, which he applies to stretched linen and canvas. Having lived across the globe in the USA, Spain, and Aruba, Jelle's artistic journey has been enriched by diverse cultural experiences.

He finds inspiration in the lively and vivid realm of toys, cartoons and the myriad of hues that exude joy as well as the artistry of the old Dutch Masters which he got to enjoy during his youth. His work is a celebration of the happiness and innocence found in childhood, as he strives to create whimsical pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia and wonder. By drawing upon the bright colours, bold shapes, and energetic lines found in these sources, his goal is to share this sense of joy with others, creating works that bring a smile to people's faces and remind them of the simple pleasures in life.

He blends his bright colours with the rich complexity and slower techniques of the Old Masters, creating visually engaging pieces that evoke instantaneous joy. His works feature large planes of colour, expanses of detailed patterns, and simplified figurative elements that add depth and detail to his compositions. Jelle is committed to using high-quality materials such as real 24K gold leaf and archival paints to achieve longevity and visual depth, inspired by traditional art.
